Headways Newsletter: June 2025

A Kitsap Transit fast ferry passes in front of the Space Needle on May 22, 2025.

Welcome back to Headways!

This month, we’re encouraging folks to take our intracounty ferry survey, which is the first step in a study examining potential new ferry routes within Kitsap County. The survey closes tomorrow, so go check it out.

Also this month:

  • It’s been one year since we opened the new Silverdale Transit Center, and we’re excited to celebrate with a project that’s been in the works for many years: a time-lapse video of the construction of STC from the ground up! You can check it out below.

  • Read on for important information about fare and transfer changes that will take effect in October; bus route changes in South Kitsap that took effect on June 8; and an upcoming “text for arrivals” software we’re working on.

  • Finally, what can’t Kitsap Transit operator Val Quill do? We give a huge shoutout to our longest-tenured driver, who won CTAA’s national bus roadeo last month. Way to go Val!

Before you start digging into this month's Headways newsletter, take a few minutes to fill out our intracounty ferry survey and tell us which new ferry routes you are interested in! The survey closes tomorrow at noon.

Construction time-lapse: Watch the making of the Silverdale Transit Center

Between January 2023 and June 2024, Kitsap Transit’s marketing department documented the construction of our new transit center in Silverdale. The result was nearly 40,000 images, edited into a time-lapse video that offers a start-to-finish look at the effort that went into building the Silverdale Transit Center.

Learn more about the time-lapse project and check out the video!

No transfer credits accepted on Kitsap Fast Ferries starting Oct. 1

Starting on Oct. 1, 2025, Kitsap Fast Ferries will align its fare transfer policy with that of Washington State Ferries and no longer accept transfers or PugetPass on its Fast Ferries. The changes coincide with the full fare for trips departing Seattle increasing to $13.00. The $2.00 full fare for trips departing Bremerton, Kingston, or Southworth remains the same.
